Dan Jarvis named new principal of Santa Margarita School

Dan Jarvis has been selected as the new principal of Santa Margarita School. He has been serving as the interim principal since the start of the school year. Mr. Jarvis takes over for Teresa Richmond who was promoted to oversee the district’s before and after school programs.

Mr. Jarvis feels very fortunate and honored to serve the Oceanside community. An Oceanside resident since 1980, Mr. Jarvis attended OUSD schools and has spent his entire career in education in the city he calls home.

Mr. Jarvis is a United States Marine Corps Veteran who served as a reservist aboard Camp Pendleton. Serving in the Marine Corps allowed Mr. Jarvis to pursue his Bachelor’s Degree at the University of California, San Diego. He then went on to earn Master's Degrees in Instructional Leadership from National University and Education Administration from Alliant International University, in addition to a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Administrative Services Credential.

Mr. Jarvis and his wife have four daughters, 2 OUSD alumni and 2 currently in OUSD, who enjoy spending time together hiking or hanging at the beach. It is very possible that you may see them riding bikes on the strand, paddleboarding in the harbor, or grabbing a burrito around town.

Mr. Jarvis wants all students to have the opportunity for a great education and is committed to providing a safe environment, both physically and emotionally. He is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment and hopes that all students and their families develop a positive connection to their school and the Oceanside community.
