State Preschool

welcome to preschool

OUSD hosts four state funded preschool sites at Del Rio, Mission, North Terrace, and Santa Margarita Schools.

Preschool classrooms have an 8:1 student to teacher ratio. All schools feature an instructional practice that is culturally and linguistically tailored to meet the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of each student. Children learn best in an environment with consistent limits and when they are allowed to make choices leading toward self-direction, independence, creativity and divergent thinking.

To register your child for preschool 2020-2021:

  1. Check if your family qualifies and if so,
  2. After May 1, call 760-901-7103 to schedule an intake appointment.

Eligibility In order to participate in the program, parents/guardians must meet income eligibility requirements as determined by the California Department of Education. Children enrolled in the program must live in the OUSD boundaries and must be three or four years old by September 1, 2020. Priority is given to 4 year olds.
