Board of Education
Your School Board
The OUSD Board of Education is comprised of five members elected to four-year terms by the voters of Oceanside. By establishing and implementing policy, the board is dedicated to ensuring the success of every student in the district through clear, concise direction to the superintendent. Each of our five members brings a wealth of school district and community experience to the governing table. The board is responsible for hiring the superintendent and instructs him/her to focus every district staff member and all resources on the goal of improving and maintaining student achievement. In the big picture, the Board of Education is responsible to the citizens of Oceanside, the State of California and the federal government.
Have a question or concern?
Community members are encouraged to communicate with Oceanside Unified School District staff and board of education members. If you have a concern, the best place to always begin is with the individual directly involved and related to the issue. This usually means starting at the specific school site by speaking with the teacher and principal and/or administrator who can best serve to resolve the problem. It is at this starting point that most situations are resolved quickly and productively. If an appropriate resolution is not reached, citizens can and should contact the district office and request to speak with a district administrator or member of the board of education.
The Oceanside Unified School District Board of Education welcomes your questions, ideas and suggestions. With help from the community, the district can achieve its goal of providing continued excellence in public education and producing graduates capable of succeeding in the global community. Educating our children requires a joint effort of parents, community and school resources. Please be a part of the process any way you can.
