Parents Learning to be Better Parents

OUSD is proud to partner with Dr. Beatriz Villarreal and the Mano a Mano Foundation to offer the "Parents Learning to be Better Parents" workshop series. Presented in Spanish, this skills-building program helps parents, guardians and caregivers face the difficult task of raising loving and responsible children. The program is culturally sensitive and specifically focuses on present-day challenges.
Sessions are in-person and childcare is provided.

Parenting the Love & Logic Way

Parenting the Love & Logic Way is a skills-building workshop designed to give simple and practical techniques and tips to help parents with kids of all ages and abilities.  This parent education is available for all parents, family members, and guardians and it is completely FREE.  You will learn how to:

  • Raise responsible kids
  • Put an end to arguing, back talk, and begging
  • Avoid power struggles
  • Preserve loving relationships with your children
  • Teach responsibility and how to make good decisions without losing their love
  • Guide your children to solve their own problems
  • Set enforceable limits
  • Have more fun with your kids!

TASK, for families of students with disabilities

Oceanside Unified School District has a partnership with TASK, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and empower children with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who serve them to navigate special education, disability services, and assistive technology.  Services and information provided by TASK include:

  • Early Intervention and Transition Services
  • Basic Rights and Responsibilities
  • Assessment Process
  • Navigating IEPs
  • Section 504 Accommodations; and
  • Resources and referrals to agencies that support families with children who have disabilities.


Family Support Specialists from TASK are available for one-on-one consultations with families. To learn more about TASK services or to schedule a consultation, please call 714-533-8275.

English as a Second Language Classes for Adults

MiraCosta College offers free English as a Second Language classes at the MCC Community Learning Center, at Libby Elementary School and other locations.
