• There are two learning models for Surfside Elementary School students.

    Independent Study/Blended Learning

Students attending Surfside Academy's Independent Study/Blended Learning program at the elementary school level (grades K-5) have access to multiple learning supports including video, text, and online materials.  While students are in class, they engage in learning activities such as reading aloud, science lessons, and small group lessons.  They will also meet with the teacher one-on-one, weekly, to check progress.

We offer students & parents three different schedule options. A potential schedule for 2021-22 is described below:

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday students in grades K, 1 & 2 may attend class from 9-12:30.
    • Tuesday, Thursday & Friday students in grade 3, 4 & 5 may attend class from 9-12:30.
    • Pure independent study/virtual plan with a weekly check in with the student's teacher via Zoom or other video chat platform.
    • On Wednesdays, all students work from home.

We welcome parents to assist & participate in their children's learning.  Students who have an IEP or 504 should refer to the FAQs.  Additionally, we offer breakfast and lunch for our students.
