• Counselor's Corner

Hello!  My name is Ms. Davis and I am your School Counselor at Palmquist Elementary.  My role is to help support the needs of our students and families during these ever-changing times.  I believe in creating an environment that fosters developmentally appropriate practices which helps each student reach social, emotional and academic competencies.  I value inclusion and student self acceptance, allowing each student the exploration to grow into confident and mature citizens.

Our school received a "Kindness Certified School" seal for participating in The Great Kindness Challenge. We made our own school-wide paper chain of kind messages written by Palmquist students as one of our activities during Kindness Week. The organizers of The Great Kindness Challenge coordinated the making of the World's Longest Recycled Paperchain with Messages of Love and Hope which took two years, and published this video about it! Check it out here!

    Kindness Certified School Seal 2022

January 24-28, 2022 was The Great Kindness Challenge. Palmquist Elementary School students participated in the Great Kindness Challenge! I received several completed kindness challenge worksheets - great job students! I hope each act of kindness made you feel really good about yourself and your contribution to a more positive world. Keep being helpful and kind to everyone you meet and doing random acts of kindness!

Students also wrote kind words on slips of paper and attached them to our Palmquist Elementary community kindness paper chain! It is hanging in the cafeteria window and looks wonderful! They also wrote thank you letters to an adult in their lives, spreading cheer and expressing gratitude. It was a successful week of kindness!

Third graders from Mrs. Leste's class, Mrs. Nguyen's class, and Mrs. Wikofsky's class were featured in this OUSD video highlighting several schools' participation in The Great Kindness Challenge. Click on the link to watch! OUSD Great Kindness Challenge video
