At our school health office we want to ensure that all students are healthy and ready to learn.
Our services contribute to the goals of student education. We provide health care for acute, chronic, episodic and emergency health situations.
Services range from providing vision and hearing screenings and referrals for medical conditions, administering prescribed medications, emergency medications, specialized procedure treatments and first aid.

Should I send my child to school?
Keep student at home if:
- Fever in last 24 hours
- Vomiting in the last 24 hours
- Diarrhea in the last 24 hours
- Signs of illness that interfere with learning, sleep, activity, or play
- Cold symptoms such as frequent coughing and/or nasal discharge that do not respond to cold medication.
Send student to school if:
- Fever free for 24 hours without fever medication
- No vomiting in the last 24 hours
- No diarrhea in the last 24 hours
- Minor cold symptoms*
- Asthma responsive to medication
- With Medical Doctor clearance following hospitalization, orthopedic injury, or communicable disease.
* Minor cold symptoms may also be COVID-related symptoms, it is recommended that students with COVID-related symptoms isolate/ quarantine at home unless they have a had a recent negative COVID test.

My child needs medication at school - what do I need to do?
Student’s requiring medication at school must have the required OUSD forms completed for the medication and on file with the Health Clerk.
The form must be completed and signed by a California Licensed Physician. Parent signature is required on the back page.
This form is needed for ALL medication, prescription, non-prescription, creams, lotions, and cough drops.
Please call the Health Clerk to request the form be emailed or to arrange to pick-up a copy from the school.

My child has a specific medical condition - how do I ensure they are properly cared for at school?
There are certain medical conditions that students may have that require specific medications, care procedures, or protocols in place to ensure they are safe while at school. If you feel your student has one of these medical conditions, please contact our Health Clerk by phone (760-966-4721) or email to discuss your child's medical conditions and ensure the proper paperwork is completed, and our site team will work together with your student's medical team to ensure they are proeprly cared for while attending school or participating in school activities.

My child has a food allergy - what do I need to do?
If your child has a food allergy , please have your Physician complete the OUSD forms for food allergies. Please provide the health office with any medication your Physician requires the student to have at school.
Please contact our Health Clerk to have the form emailed over or printed and made available for pick-up from the school.

My child has an insect allergy - what do I need to do?
If your child has an insect allergy, please have your Physician complete and sign OUSD forms for insect allergies. Please provide the health office with any medication your Physician requires the student to have at school.

My child has a sprain/ or fracture - what do I need to do?
If your child has a strain, sprain or fracture and will require any orthopedic device to be used at school, please see the OUSD Orthopedic Protocol below:
Students are not allowed on campus with crutches, splints, wraps, slings, or casts unless they provide a California Licensed Physicians’ note. Please complete the OUSD Request for Physician's evaluation form, and the OUSD Physical Education Release form and provide the completed forms to the Health Office.
