    WHAT IS ELAC?

The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is for families of students learning English as a second language regardless of the language(s) spoken at home. During ELAC meetings, we discuss ELAC's purpose and the responsibilities of ELAC, which includes the development of a site plan for multilingual learners that is submitted to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement. ELAC also assists in the development of a schoolwide needs assessment and talks about ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance. We also share strategies for supporting our multilingual learners at school and at home. For more information, review the presentation slides that provide an ELAC overview: ELAC Presentation Slides.

ELAC is a great way for parents to become involved in their child's education at our school.

ENGLISH LEARNER MASTER PLAN- By using this document, district teachers, support staff, administrators, parents and board members can contribute to bringing a new level of quality and commitment to educating all of our students for the 21st century.

At South O',  parents of our English Language Learners are encouraged to participate in the South O' English Language Advisory Committee.

Meetings are held monthly in the school library.
