May Board Meeting Recap & Fall 2021 Details
At the May 11, regular Board of Education meeting, the board voted to approve a full return to pre-pandemic, in-person school hours in Fall 2021, with mitigation strategies such as masking, hand sanitization, and physical distancing as needed. Unless state and local guidance prohibits these plans, we look forward to having all students in grades TK-12 on campus five days a week in the fall.
These plans are based upon the current downward trends of COVID-19 infections, increased vaccinations, health data and guidance, and all the measures we have in place to prevent virus spread on our campuses. We will continue to have air purification and other precautions in place across our sites and classrooms, and at this time, will continue to follow our current masking protocols.
We are also excited that in the fall, we plan to reintroduce on-campus lunch, recess, physical education, sports, and more. At the elementary level, expanded day programs will be offered to students who need additional support.
School sites will no longer be offering virtual instruction. Those who wish to seek a 100% remote or blended learning model can enroll in Surfside Educational Academy.
Thank you again for your patience and collaboration this past year as we’ve navigated changes, prevented the spread of COVID-19 and supported our scholars during this challenging time. We will continue to make the health and safety of our students and staff our top priority. Bringing all students back to full in-person instruction has always been our goal since campuses closed last spring, and we look forward to seeing everyone August 16.
