The future of California—the world’s fifth-largest economy—very much rests on the shoulders of its Multilingual Learner (ML) students and their teachers. As a state with 300,000 teachers and 2.5 million ML students, the potential for transformative, large-scale change is limitless.
The ELAC consists of families of English Language Learners, administrators, teachers, students, and paraprofessionals. It is an advisory body to oversee the EIA/LEP Program, and its budget. The committee meets every other month. Family education/training workshops are also arranged through the ELAC. Dinner, child care, and translation services are provided at all meetings.
